Akame Ga Kill AN OVERRATED ANIME WITH LOTS OF POTENTIAL! Akame Ga Kill is one of the most popular anime in the entire world, with millions of fans worldwide. Some fans even define this anime as the “Game of Thrones” of the anime world because of its brutal and highly intense story. While many anime fans love Akame Ga Kill, I believe that it is somewhat overrated. In my opinion, this anime’s story was a bit rushed, and the ending itself was not as satisfying as it should have been. Today, we’ll be taking a closer look at the many good and bad aspects of this anime, and I’ll give you guys my honest review. This anime plot follows a young boy named Tatsumi, who sets out on a journey to help his impoverished hometown. While on his journey, Tatsumi gets won over by the ideals and aspirations of a group of assassins called Night Raid and decides to become their newest member. Night Raid is the assassination branch of the Revolutionary Army. The Revolutionary Army’s goal is to overthrow the unjust prime minister who has been ruthlessly taking advantage of weak and poor people for a very long time. All the Night Raid members have entirely accepted that they will have to commit a lot of crimes to achieve their goal. We follow Tatsumi’s story to understand all the Night Raid members and fight alongside them. From the plot alone, we can easily recognize Akame Ga Kill as a unique and exciting anime. The story progression of Akame Ga Kill is something I’m a big fan of! This is an anime that keeps on throwing new and exciting plot twists at you that keep you invested till the very end. The story never seems repetitive as each new episode brings something new to the table. Studio White Fox has created the fantastic visuals of Akame Ga Kill. Like the other notable works of White Fox like Re: Zero and Steins Gate, Akame Ga Kill’s animation is something you can’t help but praise. The horrifying and dark environment of the world of Akame Ga Kill has been portrayed beautifully. While the art style of Akame Ga Kill is not too unique, it is still instantly recognizable. All the fights in this anime look highly intense because of their beautiful choreography. All the scenes connect with each other quite masterfully, and the anime always keeps your eyes glued to your screen. Now, let us talk about my favorite aspect of Akame Ga Kill. All the characters in this anime have well-thought-out personalities, and they get more interesting as the show progresses. I adore the fact that Akame Ga Kill shows us a world in which even most of the bad guys are not evil. Akame Ga Kill gives all the side characters proper screen-time so that the watchers can understand their stories and find them relatable. The designs of the characters are also quite interesting and memorable. Let us take a closer look at some of the main characters in the series! Akame: Akame is the cute female lead of the anime. This girl appears to be quite cold-hearted and distant from afar, but in reality, she deeply cares about all of her comrades and is ready to do anything for their safety. Akame is one of the most vital members of Night Raid, and she takes each one of her missions very seriously. This poor girl finds it very hard to express her real emotions because of her tragic childhood. Tatsumi: Tatsumi is the protagonist of the series and my favorite character in the entire anime. I love Tatsumi because of how drastically his character develops in the story. He starts as a naïve young boy who was just going to the capital to make some money for his hometown. However, as the story progresses, Tatsumi starts to morph into a real assassin. Mine: Just like Akame, Mine also had a very harsh life as a young kid. Mine is a very powerful member of Night Raid, and her ultimate goal is to build a world free from all kinds of discrimination. With a quick temper, we can classify Mine as a tsundere who lowkey has feelings for Tatsumi. Esdeath: Esdeath is one of the antagonists in the story, and her personality is quite interesting. This girl is ruthless towards her enemies; she also cares deeply for all of her comrades. Despite being an independent and strong woman, Esdeath falls in love with Tatsumi and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. How is Akame Ga Kill Overrated? If you have read this review until now, you might find yourself a little confused as all I’ve done so far is praise Akame Ga Kill. Well, all of this praise shows us the potential that this anime had! With a unique plot, solid cast of characters, and brilliant animation, Akame Ga Kill could’ve turned into a classic. However, this anime suffers a lot because of its fast pacing! Also, the anime strays a lot from the source material found in the original manga. Akame Ga Kill is a good anime that can be binge-watched by all types of anime fans that want to watch something fresh and exciting. However, this anime does not live up to the hype surrounding its name! While the anime gets a pretty great beginning, it starts to get a bit overwhelming as you approach the second half of the story. I would recommend that you only watch Akame Ga Kill if you are looking for something to kill time. If you want to experience this story in all its glory, I’d recommend the source material.
