Sabikui Bisco is a 12-episode TV series based on a Light Novel. Frontier Works, YTV, KlockWorx, Flying DOG, Hakuhodo DY Music and Pictures, BS11, Kadokawa, and Bit Groove Promotion produced it. It aired from January 11th until March 29th, 2022. This light novel series consists of 8 volumes written by Shinji Cobkubo, which were adapted into a series of 23-minute episodes by studios NAZ and OZ. Sabikui Bisco, also known as ‘Rust-Eater Bisc,’ was a PG-13 series for mature teens or older and included the genres of Action, Adventure, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi.
In post-apocalyptic Japan, a wind that resembles the plague sweeps through a desolate, sandy landscape. Rust is all that is left behind when it washes across both living things and inanimate objects. The story's protagonist, Bisco Akaboshi, is the Mushroom Guardian tribe's most brilliant member. He is, nonetheless, the most wanted criminal outside of his tribe. Essentially, he is a terrorist who targets and disperses enormous mushrooms around the cities, causing "rust." It is said that mushroom spores are to blame for the world's terrible fate. But these ideas were false since the fungus can actually clean the rusty air and restore the fields to their original natural form. However, nobody except them is aware of that. Bisco travels across the wastelands of Japan with the crab Akutagawa and the young doctor Milo Nekoyanagi in their quest for the legendary "Sabikui," a panacean mushroom claimed to have absorbed all types of rust.
Although their initial interactions weren't the finest, Bisco and Milo soon grew to understand one another since they were attempting to protect a loved one from being rusted. Both Milo's beloved sister, Pawoo, and Bisco's instructor were worthy of saving. Milo eagerly decides to join Bisco upon learning about a fungus that can heal his sister and others afflicted by rust, even considering the idea of marrying his sister to Bisco to make him part of their family. The dynamic team rides on a colossal crab called "Actagawa" as it traverses the wastelands and hostile locales. What would Bosco have become without his fantastic mate Milo, often known as Panda-sensei? Every hero needs their best buddy and loyal sidekick, similar to how Sam was to Frodo, Tenzing was to Edmund Hillary, and Ron Weasley was to Harry. Together, Bisco and Milo have incredible character growth, particularly Milo, because he had no prior experience in living the life of an explorer, but he soon adjusts to it.
Supporting characters such as Pawoo, Milo's sister, and Jabi, Bisco's instructor, really stood out. She is a powerful, independent lady who doesn't require males to accomplish her goals. Pawoo, on the other hand, is a queen in her own right. Every moment of her time in combat remains very intense. A great tale frequently requires a terrific villain, even though having great heroes is fantastic. Kurokawa, the mayor of Imihama, is a diabolical politician who combines the exaggerated energy of anime villains with a scheme and goal that uncomfortably approaches reality. You wouldn't believe the despicable things he does to further his interests, much like certain politicians we see in action nowadays. His actions are both realistic and disturbing.
The first thing that stands out in this series is his fiery crimson hair. His eye-catching features included his fiery crimson hair, vivid green eyes, and scarlet tattoo beneath his right eye. Bisco has the irate Tsundere personality type that can't talk without yelling and shouting. You might be reminded of Katsuki Bakugou from My Hero Academia in Kirishima's body. But his frustration with the world makes sense, and he succeeds in evoking a lot of emotion throughout the series. Milo was initially a timid person, but after joining Bisco, he started feeling more confident. Even though he was out of medical supplies, he was a wonderful man who enjoyed lending a hand to people in need for the greater good. Milo can adapt to the life of an adventurer fast, which enables him to compete throughout most of the series. His large, dreamy, glittering blue eyes and gorgeous blue mane, which somewhat resemble Howl Pendragon's, fit his demeanor nicely.
Sabikui Bisco's delivery of some imaginative aspects that make each episode feel new is another distinctive feature. The universe of Sabikui Bisco is consistently distinct and memorable. Since Studio OZ is a young studio and the project was their first job, the animation was excellent. CGI was used to create the realistic, gigantic crab. Apart from that, the action scenes were excellently done. The show brilliantly portrays every nail-biting, furious battle, unique visual element, and meaningful character moment through stunning design and fluid presentation. Overall, the animation was smooth, and there were no glaring errors that would render the show unwatchable. The character designs and the background scenery exhibit a lovely, vibrant quality. Wastelands made up the post-apocalyptic set that gave it a Mad Max feel.
FlyingDog Inc. made the music. "Kaze no Oto sae Kikoenai," sung by JUNNA, serves as the show's opening theme. Ryta Suzuki and Natsuki Hanae sang the anime's ending theme song. If you enjoy watching this anime, it will be a wise use of your time. Incredible opening themes for "Sabikui Bisco." Like I said earlier, if you liked Mad Max, you'd like this. However, they are kind-hearted heroes who would go above and beyond to preserve the planet, even if it meant giving their lives. Overall, this fantastic adaptation of a light novel will delight anybody with a taste for brave tales with intriguing plots. Prepare your snack bowl and get ready to binge this fantastic series! Your time will be well spent if you watch this anime.
