“Weak and Wimpy School Camp”
Honestly, I can’t remember what I said after watching Episode 3. I had put off going on to Episode 4, but since you all seem to be checking it out on the site, I guess I’ll delve further. Apparently nobody is going episode by episode for a show that aired in spring 2026, which is why I’m here.
The focus shifted heavily toward character development in Episode 4. While the first half featured heavy uncensored fan service, it also served up some decent character arcs. My notes skimped on the finer details as I remained locked into the character dynamics and their growth. The production specs remain identical—same studio, director, and HIDIVE Cho-Yowayowa cut—so consult the Episode 1 review for background context. Now, let’s jump right in.
Weak and Wimpy Breakdown
So if you’ve been following this series, the ongoing mission in each episode has been to clean up everyone’s perception of Sensei. Episode 4 is no different, and the create-by-template process is still in effect, and she’s already ruined that perception on the trip over. If you recall from episode 3, when it closed out, there was the camp event that was happening in this episode, and Abikura was going to do what he’s always done: make everybody like Sensei.
Abikura’s first play is the Sit With Sensei Strategy—have her sit by herself and have a student sit next to her. That didn’t work because they got organized by class number. Next was the Soothe Sickness With Sensei Strategy—if someone gets sick and Sensei tends to them, they’ll see she’s not scary. That didn’t work either, because Sensei got nauseous after getting off the bus. Her voice was scary on the megaphone too. A typical weak and wimpy Sensei can’t handle a bus journey.
The hiking trip failed too. I have to give her character designer Naoki Aisaka credit; he made her curvaceous and busty enough that, even in regular clothes, they can get a good fan service shot. That was the warm-up for the ultimate shot, where she got so worn out she took her jacket off, and everything popped out. Abikura says she must be wearing a sports bra. I’m not sure why he said that because they always jiggle. I’ll only note that he uses the weak, wimpy “Sensei has a weak bladder” line due to a situation that generally occurs when one goes hiking. Otherwise, moving on.
So the camping trip lasts two nights and three days, which means they’ve already used up one day. Later that evening, Abikura, consumed with class president duties, missed the boys’ bathing time, so he went to unwind. HIDIVE reminds us that this series IS the uncensored version, and we get top shots as Sensei, Mizuki, and several other students enter the bath—but from the ladies’ side so they don’t immediately see him. They missed the time when the girls were supposed to bathe. It’s never explained why they were late, but you know why. So of course he gets an eyeful. In case you thought uncensored meant everything was visible, no, you still get the lower parts covered up, and rightly so.
The adaptation seems to heighten the delivery more than it invents the premise. Yuki drops her wash bowl, and as a result, Abikura and Hiyori make contact. There’s a giant stone covering him and enough steam that no one pays him attention initially. Hiyori stands next to him to offer an escape, and it’s about to get even more awkward. Mizuki says there is a legend at their school—if a guy and a girl confess their feelings under the stars on the camping trip, they’ll be together forever. Mizuki immediately gets asked if there’s a guy she wants to be with. The same question is posed to Sensei, who goes into full scary mode because she can’t answer. That makes the girls jump out of the bath and allows for a getaway.
But they don’t run out fast enough. Hiyori falls over on Abikura, and everyone sees him. This series might qualify as a love polygon. Mizuki is quite upset and calls Abikura a jerk under her breath. Yuki asks whether they were doing it—quite out of place, since all the girls had been there together and rushed out together.
Speaking of Yuki, I noticed they went hard with her in Episode 3, making her the chief fondler of boobs, but she’s very toned down here. During the team-building exercise, I thought she was going to fondle Sensei to get her to do the cooking, but she hit her with this adorable little-sister energy, and Sensei complied. Of course that doesn’t go well—“weak and wimpy Sensei, even her knife skills are lacking.” The students think she’s going to put a curse on the food. There’s also a running joke that they thought she was eating Abikura’s finger because he cut himself and she stuck his finger in her mouth, like her mother used to do. At this point, this episode is just a series of events.
They do give Sensei some character development this time. While she’s still weak and wimpy, she’s more concerned about closing the gap between herself and the students, and she tells Abikura not to worry about her. She’s got all these props ready for tomorrow’s test of courage in the woods—skeletons, zombie arms, the girl from The Ring, that sort of thing. Give her credit; she’s got talent.
Later that evening it starts raining, and the test of courage is canceled. I don’t understand why they don’t just build it out in the hotel, but weak and wimpy Sensei starts crying and blames herself. But my idea came true—students from class 2 took over the floor and set it all up. The students love it. It’s immersive—you collect talismans, and each room’s got a monster, room by room until you get to the end, kind of like a board game. Sensei was the scariest one of them all. But the most important thing is that as they sleep, the students talk, and one of them says, “Spooky, scary Sensei made all the props and prepared everything.” They come to realize that perhaps she’s not a terrible teacher after all.
After all the fun, Hiyori calls Abikura outside as the rain has stopped. She thanks him—he took the lead because she had given up and hadn’t considered doing it inside. He spins it back around. He’s basically what happens when a child is the one parenting the parent. He said it was because she wanted everyone to enjoy the camping trip; that’s why everyone had fun. He’s grown too—before becoming class president, he wasn’t very proactive or outgoing, but he’s actually stepped up, become way more engaged, and become a leader.
Naturally, we get a classic Lady and the Tramp-style scene—just in case you’re unfamiliar, that’s the iconic movie moment with the two dogs sharing a plate of spaghetti. As they chat during this heart-to-heart, it turns into a classic love-confession misunderstanding. He tells her he likes her, intending it romantically, but quickly backtracks and reframes it as respect for her as an educator. She responds that she likes him too, though strictly in a non-romantic, teacher-student sense.
So when things turn awkward, we get a fan service moment that actually has quite a bit of meaning, and for what it’s worth, it’s not me grasping at straws, so shut up. As he moves forward, he slips slightly on some mud and falls face-first into her breast instead of the other way around. So he’s the one tripping on her for once. That’s the point I was trying to make. And you know what? I’m going to end it right there.
This is still a mid-series for me, but it’s a likable one I haven’t quite figured out yet. What it lacks is a clear end goal that compels you to persevere. Even the worst anime have a clear structure. Are we creating a romance? A love polygon? We have an idea of where we’re going, but there’s a lot of fan service thrown in, and in some ways it reminds me of how later Family Guy does it—not much of a plot, but a lot of stuff going on that keeps you entertained.
No score again. MAL still has the series sitting around 6.61, and that’s still the neighborhood I’m in. I’m going to peek at Episode 5. No commitment past that. Which is precisely what I said the last time...
