Anime Shots
I hope your week is going well, and if you’re in the States, you had a safe and enjoyable Independence Day weekend. A few “Anime Shots” to tide you over for the week.
First Shot
One of my favorite anime just entered the Guinness Book of World Records for longest-running manga with its 201st volume. Do you know the manga? Well, I was surprised as I wrongly assumed One Piece held the record but low and behold, the record is held by Golgo 13.
Written by Takao, Saito Golgo 13 follows the life of a professional assassin named Duke Togo. Golgo 13 beat the previous record holder, Kochicama, with its 201st published volume. You can check out our review of the 1983 OVA here. (The Professional Golgo 13)
Golgo 13 has been serialized since 1968 in Shogakukan's Big Comic seinen manga magazine, and it is also published in collected form in Japan by Leed Publishing. An English language version is also available from Viz Media.

Shot Two
Soooo…...the Slayer soldiers onward!! No. Not Slayer, the rock band from the eighties but those incomparable slayers of demons! Demon Slayer, probably one of the best anime of the new millennium, will be getting a spinoff manga based on anime short films.
“The new manga, titled Kimetsu Gakuen!, will debut in the September issue of Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine on August 4. Natsuki Hokami (Hell Warden Higuma) will draw the manga, and the manga will feature the characters in super-deformed style.”
“The four "Kimetsu Gakuen Valentine-hen" Valentine's Day-themed shorts premiered on February 14. The shorts feature the characters from the manga in a school setting.”
“The characters Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Giyu Tomioka as they appear in the shorts will appear in the upcoming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles (Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami Keppūtan) video game as playable characters.” Source - Anime News Network
