Chrono Crusade
Chrono Crusade is an anime produced by Gonzo Studio, and we already know what to expect. If you’re a fan of anime produced by Gonzo, you know how interesting they make every anime look. They tend to create really fascinating and colorful worlds, reaching the peak of creativity.
It might feel a little too serious from its premise, but that’s not the case here. So, let’s get started! Today, we’ll be talking about Chrono Crusade in-depth and what we liked in this anime and did not.
The story opens in the 1920s when demons have invaded America. No one could defeat those deadly demons. To combat them, a religious organization by the name of the Order of Magdalene came into being. We are introduced to Sister Rosette Christopher, who is quite reckless, along with her partner Chrono.
Both of them are members of the New York team. They’re responsible for taking out the demons. They know how to do their job and damage a lot of public property while doing what they do well, kill demons.
Rosette and Chrono are not in this for nothing. They have tragic pasts and want to reveal some secrets while exterminating the demons. Rosette is trying to find her lost brother, Joshua, who was taken away by a demon named Aion.
On the other hand, Chrono shares a history with Aion and wants to fight him. The two of them must fight the demon and reveal the secret behind the source of it all.
This anime’s story might be hard to understand for manga readers, but its story was great. Despite not following the manga story, it had a lot of potential and was handled really well.
The story is full of comedic moments, surprisingly. It also gives us a healthy dose of heartbreaking and dramatic moments. So, different emotions are balanced perfectly while watching this anime.
This is very hard to create and maintain, and most anime cannot do so. However, Chrono Crusade was able to do so. Many profound moments feel a little too serious, but these moments also have a bit of hope in them. It all feels so natural and easy.
Overall, the story of Chrono Crusade is perfectly handled. There isn’t anything to complain about in the story. It’s all flawless.
The best thing about Chrono Crusade is its characters. There is so much character development with each character, and all of them make a lot of sense. Each character has unique traits and is very different from the other one. Even the side characters have their own unique personalities. And then we have the villain who is also perfect in every way.
Our heroes on Chrono Crusade are all optimistic and ambitious. We absolutely love the healthy relationship Rosette and Chrono has. They are the ones who contribute to making the series really strong. Their relationship stands out. Their interactions are so much fun to watch. So, there are no flaws in the character department as well. 10/10 for characters!
We’re talking about Gonzo Studio here. The kind of animation they serve is unbeatable. They have a very different type of approach while animating. We see heavily detailed backgrounds, beautiful colors, shades, and stunning character designs. The worlds and the characters they create are incredible.
Even the demons look great. Everything is animated with a lot of attention and hard work. CGI is used, but it’s not even noticeable. That’s how an anime should be animated, and we commend Gonzo Studio for creating such a beautiful piece of art.
Chrono Crusade serves you with the kind of openings and endings that you will not get sick of if you keep listening to them for 24 episodes straight.
They’re very catchy and set the mood right for the events that are to come. The background music for this anime is also charming. It’s appropriate for every scene. As a complement to the music, the voice acting, is also done perfectly.
Usually, the English dub for most anime comes up short, right? That’s why a lot of fans prefer watching anime in Japanese. However, the English dub for Chrono Crusade is appropriately done.
Considering how the anime is set in America, it should be natural for the characters to speak English, and they did it perfectly. Overall, the sound department did a great job and deserved a lot of appreciation.
Chrono Crusade is an excellent anime series. The writing is perfect, the animation is impressive, and the characters are exemplary. We recommend everyone to watch it. You won’t regret it and will enjoy every moment.
