Volume 7 seemed heroic, triumphant, and bleak at times. The outcome isn't a perfect world within Weiss's country, but it is one that still has a chance to recapture its soul. Who knows, we may be able to watch how all of the struggles, difficulties, and sacrifices for that soul play out in the next Volume.

To be honest, I was unsure if Volume 6 would be good. Fortunately, Volume 6 was fantastic, and it is my personal favorite so far. Several instances in the Volume reminded me why I initially fell in love with the series. It reminded me that, despite its flaws, RWBY is still a compelling story that ought to be told.

This doesn’t mean you should give up on RWBY. Volume 5 juggles a lot of concepts that don't always pan out. The pacing is awful, there is a drop in combat quality, and the character decisions are bizarre. Some even say it’s one of the weakest volumes yet. Despite that, this volume has several game-changing moments, so you will have fun.

Unlike volume two, however, the climax had dramatic stakes and finally attempted to grow Ruby by questioning her naive and self-destructive sense of duty, and even managed to offer us Pyrrha's single best character arc. If volume two was the best in animation and visual storytelling, volume three stole the show with its ending and (some of) the characters.
