Dusk Maiden of Amnesia
In "Dusk Maiden of Amnesia," Tasogare Otome x Amnesia tells the story of Kanoe Yuuko, a beautiful ghost who died in a horrific accident many years ago. As soon as I heard about this anime, I knew it would be something I'd enjoy, as I'm a big lover of horror flicks and stories in general.
It's also possible that I've overestimated the anime's importance to me. Tasogare Otome x Amnesia's first five episodes were formulaic; it was your mild anime with a few laughs and a dash of mystery or dread.
"Dusk Maiden of Amnesia" appears to be a decent anime based on the descriptions, synopses, and storyline summaries that have been provided. A typical anime with dark undertones and lots of comedy and romance attached is what you'll get here.
If you read the synopsis, you'd expect this anime to be filled with suspense and terror, but instead, you'll see a lot of love stories. Ironically, the anime tends to focus on comedic elements and romance.
Unless you're watching the Paranormal Investigation Club or Yuuko pretending to be a ghost to frighten the living daylights out of the four main characters, there's not much suspense or fear to be found here.
Finally, I kept losing track of how much time had passed because it moved so quickly. As a result, I believe that "Dusk Maiden of Amnesia" fails miserably in depicting story progression instead of focusing on Yuuko and Teiichi's relationship.
This anime's main characters either have a lot of character development or have none. Eighty percent of the time, Yuuko and Teiichi appear in this anime. Although these two have only been together for a short period, they already act like long-time lovers who've known one other for a very long time.
Yuuko's seduction of Teiichi, Teiichi's sarcasm toward her, Yuuko's stroking of her and her affection for him, and their lovey-dovey-ness are the same scenes you witness practically every time. I'm a big fan of romance, but this is too much. You see them on top of each other on the first day they meet. It's too quick for me.
Only 20% of the time are Momoe and Kirie displayed throughout the entire series, which results in no character development for them. Consequently, I believe they were merely included as a 'bonus' member by their designers.
Another issue I see in this animation is that there are no supporting characters. I know that the supporting cast isn't as vital as the main cast. Still, honestly, you only see four characters throughout the entire anime, and they're all the major characters!
While side and background characters may not be critical to an anime when you watch the same people appear in every episode. There are no other characters at all; you gradually realize that minor and other characters play a significant part in making it appear more genuine to the spectator.
In other words, it would be reasonable to assume that anyone searching for information on the circumstances surrounding a suspicious death at a school would come across people who either have firsthand knowledge of the incident or are at the very least conversing about something obscure. However, none of it is present in this anime, which focuses only on four students in a prestigious prep school.
As this anime is set at a school, I'm left wondering: "Where are the other kids? There are no other students anywhere to be seen in this anime." This school must have no students if there are four characters I can view at a time.
In episode five, the only time I saw any accurate background figures in this anime, even if it was just a brief glimpse, made me pleased to know that there were other characters in this show.
This anime's art style seems to be the only remarkable thing! However, even if the story is a complete jumble, I still give this anime a 7 out of 10 since the art is beautiful. I'm gazing at a piece of art when I watch this anime because of how beautiful the colors are. Graphics and effects were used to great advantage in the animation. Yes, it is just flawless.
There might be a little more effort to make the backdrops look older, but they're good as they are. Did you know that the anime's creators did a fantastic job showcasing a little bit of fan service? For those who enjoy fanservice-heavy anime, this may make you think, "Holy crap! This is Heaven."
Everything appears to be in order; I have no issues with the voices utilized in this anime or the songs that open and close the show.
Though I'm not sure why, the opening and closing songs didn't manage to hold my attention too much; I didn't particularly care for them, but I felt they were appropriate for the overall tone. Background music is the only aspect that needs to be improved, and it should be used more effectively.
I found "Tasogare Otome x Amnesia" to be a somewhat uninspiring story and found it tedious. I didn't sense any suspense; there were no chair grabbing, hair biting, or "mama, I'm afraid" moments. Yuuko and Teiichi were having a good time, and I was gazing at the computer, bored out of my mind.
Some of the characters or events in the anime made me swoon in amazement or burst into laughter. However, I was mostly just bored the entire time. Even though Yuuko and Teiichi's relationship is ideal, I was a little jealous while watching this anime since they seldom had any disagreements or significant challenges they must overcome to be together forever.
They're always together in the anime, and their love appears beautiful and uncomplicated. It makes me feel like I'll never have a relationship like theirs, and I can't help but want to be like them.
