Sakugan
When thinking of the relationship between a father and daughter, It is stated that a girl's father should be her first love. Even though they may love one another without conditions, things may not always go well. A rather dramatic relationship might be sparked by a parent who is overprotective yet carefree and a very successful, egoistic daughter who wants to prove herself. Imagine the adventures they might have.
The Japanese anime television program "Sakugan" is created by Satelight. With character designs by Yuji Iwahara and music by Tatsuya Kato, it is directed and written by Junichi Wada. It is a translation of Nekotarō Inui's novel Sakugan Labyrinth Marker, submitted to Project Anima, a 2018 initiative by DeNA, Sotsu, and Bunka Housou that welcomed public contributions of short stories. The runner-up in the "Science-Fiction/Robot'' category was Sakugan Labyrinth Marker. The show broadcasted on Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS11 from October 7 to December 23, 2021.
The series is available on Crunchyroll outside of Asia. In Southeast Asia, Bilibili obtained the series' license. Crunchyroll announced on October 28, 2021, that the show would receive an English dub, which would debut on November 18. Late in 2021, the anime aired 12 episodes, with each episode running 23 minutes. Its themes included childcare and mecha, and its target audience is the Shounen demographic. It belonged to the adventure, humor, and sci-fi genres and was rated PG-13 for youths at least 13 years old.
In the far future, one day. People coexist side by side in "colonies" that are divided by rocks. The dangerously underdeveloped "Labyrinth" is growing outside the colonies. Markers are the people who put their lives in danger to create "the Labyrinth" and delineate the uninhabited places. Memempu, a little girl who dreams of becoming a Marker, and Gagumber, a man who formerly served in such a capacity. This odd father and daughter are now navigating the Labyrinth! "Dig a route if there isn't one!"
There's no denying that Sakugan has a similar feel to ‘‘Made In Abyss.’’ It has a grim science-fiction scenario, adorable yet practical mech designs, and a profoundly human story of love, sorrow, and family as it follows a father and daughter through an undiscovered and hazardous underground labyrinth. The father-and-daughter protagonist team of Gagamber and Memenpu must travel over uncharted territory as "Markers" to investigate the Labyrinth's deepest parts while avoiding the Kaiju monsters, which are large enough to put entire colonies on high alert due to their destructive potential.
Memempu, a 9-year-old prodigy and snark all rolled into one, has a dream of an unknown place that drives her desire to become a "Marker" to travel to the Labyrinth's vast places and colonies that have not yet been discovered to reach that dream place. This desire fuels the desire to become a "Marker," Despite her father Gagumber's constant arguments, Memempu begins the journey of a lifetime.
The primary character of the anime, Memempu, is Gagumber's nine-year-old daughter and is voiced by Kanon Amane. Memempu has seven doctorates and has already completed college, making her extraordinarily clever for her age. She frequently has nightmares about a large building visible from the surface, and despite her father's opposition, she wants to be a marker to help others discover it.
As a result, the two frequently disagree with one another, with Memempu seeing Gagumber as an inept deadbeat. She loves changing and creating new machines and is very curious. She assists her father with his mining work by making the most of her exceptional spatial awareness and sense of direction. She has often dreamed about a specific landscape, and her goal is to become a "marker" and locate the location in her dreams.
The series' deuteragonist and Memempu's father, Gagumber, works as a "worker,'' performing manual labor with a workbot. A typical "useless parent," Gagumber enjoys drinking, gambling, eating noodles, and has a fondness for attractive ladies. Previously, he was a master marker known as "Gagumber the Gale."
Memenpu and Gagumber are two fictitious characters who represent the father-daughter connection. Although they don't always agree, it is evident that they both care for each other. Memenpu is ambitious and eager to succeed for someone her age. Gagumber is trying to stop his daughter from taking chances that might endanger her life. It is just what a parent would do to prevent harm from coming to their child. And to further complicate matters, he frequently finds himself in legal trouble. Furthermore, the youngster disregards her father's advice even though he is more knowledgeable than she is, and she essentially puts both lives in danger to prove her point. Watching their experience will undoubtedly be quite dramatic.
Sakugan unquestionably needs an engaging supporting cast. I'll confess that the cast can sometimes be flawed. Yuri is the orphans' leader and a skilled hacker. Similar to Gagumber, he has legal issues.
The artwork has a more upbeat, vibrant feel that matches the program's mood but can also go darker when necessary. The characters fit into the setting effortlessly, and the colors merge well. Since the whole tale takes place underground, it is to be anticipated that the illumination will change. The lighting was done well. There is a nice amount of motion, everything moves smoothly, and nothing catches your eye.
The music did make the world seem smaller to me than the ambient noises, which is appropriate for the underground culture but inappropriate for the adventure aspects of the anime. Masaaki Endoh sang the opening theme song, "Kōkotsu Labyrinth" ("Enchanted Labyrinth"), while MindaRyn sang the closing theme song, "Shine."
.
Overall, a fantastic anime. It is highly recommended! It's all done incredibly nicely from beginning to end and gives the impression that you're watching a humorous action film.
