Dance In The Vampire Bund

The world expects you to be strong while battling to be strong. When you have power, you must make difficult decisions that you may not be able to make. When it comes to becoming a great peacemaker or guardian, you must do all in your power to carry out your duties. “Dance In The Vampire Bund” may be a narrative that teaches you that despite a person's feeble appearance, they may be the strongest you will ever meet in your life.

The anime "Dance In The Vampire Bund" was directed by Akiyuki Shinbo and Masahiro Sonoda and based on the manga series of the same name, with animation by Shaft. The anime's character designs were created by Naoyuki Konno, while the soundtrack was composed by Akio Dobashi. In October 2009, a promotional trailer for the series was aired at the 76th Comiket. The series debuted in January 2010 on AT-X, Chiba TV, TV Saitama, Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, and Sun TV. Initially, Funimation stated that the U.S. release would be in an altered version due to "controversial parts that, when taken out of context, might be disagreeable to some audiences," which Funimation deemed "inappropriate for U.S. viewing and not vital to the plot."

“The Bund” (also known as Tokyo Landfill #0) is a one-of-a-kind artificial island district in Tokyo Bay, just off Tokyo's shore. Mina designed it as a Vampire and Werewolf community. While Vampires make up most of the Bund's population, Mina's Werewolf guards, known as the Beowulf, live there full-time to protect her. Humans of significant importance (either politically or by personal relationships with Mina) are allowed to visit the Bund. The Bund is devoid of bridges and big ports. There is only one tunnel connecting the mainland to the Bund.

The plot centers on the Princess-Ruler of all vampires, Mina Tepeș, and her werewolf bodyguard Akira Kaburagi Regendorf. Mina, like most vampires, has spent many years in hiding with her people. Seeking to end centuries of seclusion, Mina obtains permission to establish "The Bund," a special zone for vampires off the coast of Tokyo, Japan, by paying off the Japanese government's entire national debt with her family's great riches. Mina also seeks to remove the shroud that hides vampires from the lens of humanity. Such a decision brings the ire of those who seek to blind her vision.

Mina's adolescent form is roughly ten years old and in the prepubescent period (due to awakening her vampire powers early; her growth was slowed for several centuries). Her eyes are red, she has fangs, and her hair is blond. Mina takes on the appearance of a beautifully gorgeous mature lady. While her face changes very little, her figure transforms into that of a mature and voluptuous lady who is generally seen naked. Mina can also produce a black ebony material that solidifies around the exterior of her limbs, forming improvised boots and claws.

Despite her outward impression of being cold and harsh with others, Mina is passionate about the Bund. She is also exceedingly strong-willed, refusing to back down even when her life is endangered. She will not hesitate to employ intimidation, violence, extortion, or any other criminal means to defend the Bund's safety and the vampire species' existence. Mina is skilled at hiding her thoughts and feelings on her face. She only takes the advice of a few reliable people. She does have a kinder side, which is usually apparent around her guardian Akira Kaburagi, who is prominently featured on the show.

Akira Kaburagi Regendorf is the second main character in the anime series. He is also a werewolf, hence is a member of the Earth Clan, which protects the Tepeș vampire family. He is Queen Mina Tepeş's bodyguard as well as her boyfriend. This 17-year-old teenager has black hair, green eyes, and a pale skin tone. He is also considered to be quite appealing.

Akira is also a compassionate young guy who cares deeply about his friends. He used to be joyful and innocent, but after an incident during his "Rite of Passage," he became distant and rarely smiled. Regardless, his natural tendency to protect people and speak up for what is right has not altered. He adores Mina, though he does not express it. He puts her needs ahead of his own, not out of loyalty to his tribe, but out of selflessness.

Dance in the Vampire Bund is undoubtedly one of the best vampire anime for everyone who likes the genre/theme and will captivate you with vampires. Unfortunately, not many anime truly utilize this theme. It succeeded in harnessing the full power of vampire legend and myth. In terms of animation, it has good art and animation with eye-popping deliciousness; however, the Blu-ray edition is suggested. I must admit that I watched this series for the narrative rather than the aesthetics.

It contains beautiful and well-developed characters and a highly engaging plot. If you're a fan of the Wattpad stories, this will have you glued to your sofa. Don’t let the lackluster soundtracks discourage you, as it remains to be an entertaining anime to watch. It is recommended overall!
