The Heike Story (Heike Monogatari) is Naoko Yamada's adaptation of Japan's medieval epic about the rise and fall of the Taira clan. After Biwa's prophetic eye costs her father his life, she is taken in by Taira no Shigemori, who learns his family's doom is near. Science SARU's watercolor art and Ushio Kensuke's score make this a meditation on karma, impermanence, and the price of power.
