The Millionaire Detective Balance: Unlimited
There are many anime that feel like a breath of fresh air when you first look at them. The Millionaire Detective is one such anime with such a new and unique concept that everyone can’t help but get excited. A concept where justice can be done using money sounds intriguing, right? We’ve watched many detective anime series, and every one of them has only one kind of justice system. But with The Millionaire Detective, we have a twisted sort of justice system that only one person believes in, why, because he’s super-rich!
So, without further ado, let’s talk more about The Millionaire Detective’s strong and weak points and how it served the anime community!
Modern Crime Prevention Headquarters welcome a new detective named Daisuke Kambe, an extremely wealthy man. Haru Katou is another detective who gets paired up with Daisuke Kambe. Both of them, having different personalities and different senses of justice, do not get along well. However, the power duo can prevent any crime from happening in a flash of light with their fantastic teamwork, despite having glaring differences.
Daisuke loves to use his extraordinary wealth to prevent crimes. On the other hand, Haru uses his sheer physical and mental power to solve most cases. Haru does not like how Daisuke takes care of things and does not like being paired up with him. On the other hand, Daisuke does not care at all and uses his resources to his liking. Will both the handsome detectives be able to solve their conflicts without messing things up?
We can’t help but get impressed by the fact that Daisuke Kambe is given the power to outwit every disaster beforehand and use his money to prevent those disasters right away. And the fact that he stays calm during that just blows our mind. Haru does get impressed by Daisuke’s abilities, and it’s not surprising at all. He really should be!
In terms of storytelling and plot explanation, no one does it better than The Millionaire Detective. Everything is explained to us adequately and is explored as well. There are no unnecessary plot holes. Everything is crystal clear and right in front of us. Not many anime can provide such aptness and clarity.
The first few episodes were more of an episodic nature. They had a new case to work on in every episode. But the real story picks up pace after a few episodes, and we are bombarded with many revelations. That’s where things get really exciting. When both Daisuke and Haru are working together, it’s fun to see them. They brainstorm and put the puzzle pieces together perfectly. Also, their bittersweet relationship is exceptionally adorable. Both of them have made all the girls fall for them. Especially Daisuke did well in this regard. He had a lot of girls swarming for him when the series came out first. Haru is also such a cutie, despite his nasty temper.
Overall, the story and the plot are done perfectly well. There’s nothing wrong with the pacing nor the storytelling. A big thumbs up for that!
Now comes my favorite part. The characters in The Millionaire Detectives are the ones we can’t help falling for repeatedly with each episode. And their relationship with each other makes us go crazy as well.
We have our main characters, Daisuke Kambe and Haru Katu. Daisuke is a spoiled rich kid who thinks he can buy everything with money, even justice. Haru, on the other hand, despises the overuse of money and is exceptionally modest. On top of that, their chemistry is out of this world! Both of them have such differences that we find ourselves torn between them.
Many side characters don’t really add much to the story but are still quite enjoyable. The most interesting side character is Daisuke Kambe’s cousin, Suzue. She’s highly adorable, even though she has quite a serious demeanor. We get a lot of comic relief from her and Daiuke’s relationship.
The characters are perfectly made and given the best possible personality traits that suit them well. There’s a lot of effort done in the character department as well.
The Millionaire Detective graces us with pretty decent animation. The character designs make them highly handsome/beautiful/graceful. Their designs suit their personalities. The background is pretty straightforward, and the color palette is a mixture of warm and bright tones. Nothing feels jarring or out of place. The action scenes follow a certain symmetry and are very pleasing to the eyes. So, the animation department deserves a lot of appreciation as well!
We love the opening soundtrack for The Millionaire Detective. It goes well with the overall vibe and theme of the anime. We personally never skipped the opening of this anime series. As for the voice acting, it’s splendid. The characters’ voices suit them well, especially Daisuke’s voice. Everyone sounded like how they should, and everything sounded like it should. So, the music and sound departments get high points as well!
The Millionaire Detective took the detective genre to another level, adding a fresh twist to it. It will not disappoint you in the slightest! We would recommend you to watch The Millionaire Detective if you want something short and fun to watch.
