The show had a ton of potential to deep dive into the discrepancies between being a Ghoul and a human, not just from Kaneki’s perspective. Alas, due to the source material’s mismanagement, we are left with a pretty compelling starting point that leaves a lot to be desired.

After carefully watching and evaluating Studio Pierrot’s Tokyo Ghoul adaptation, I determined that it was honestly a very lackluster adaptation compared to the source material. However, the second season of Tokyo Ghoul was something that I definitely had on my checklist, and after watching the first season, my interest grew even more.

Tokyo Ghoul:re is nothing like its prequels, the first and second seasons were full of adrenaline-pumping visuals and dark satirical moral warfare between the Ghouls and humans. That’s all gone here, and there honestly isn’t much to keep people fascinated.
