Aria the Scarlet Ammo follows Kinji Tōyama at Tokyo Butei High until S-Rank tsundere Aria H. Kanzaki crashes his quiet-life plan. JC Staff’s 2011 adaptation mixes girls-with-guns action, Holmes-versus-Lupin pedigree, and messy harem tropes. This review covers hysteria mode, the Butei Killer mystery, clunky animation, May’n’s Scarlet Ballet, and why the show starts strong then loses steam. Fun if you like the genre—skip it otherwise.

Set on a colonized Mars in 2046, detective Ross Sylibus and the fierce Naomi Armitage hunt a killer targeting Thirds — sentient androids indistinguishable from humans. Often overshadowed by Ghost in the Shell, this underrated sci-fi classic explores AI sentience, identity, and political intrigue with gritty 90s animation.
The sage continues, and AR-15 has been compromised. Doing what she does best, the generally cold and calculated T-Doll does her version of “Man on the Run.”

Like most episodes, The Kindling 02 is not without its faults. It highlights the gravity of the situation and the hope that all is not lost. It shines in its animation where necessary, and the emotional range given by AR-15 deserves recognition.
