Tokyo Ravens a history, a present and a future that just doesn't add up Magic anime? Trust me, we've got a plethora of titles to rap to your face this instant since the best of imagination going hand in hand with magic itself isn't a combo anyone can miss out on, right? In case all you've heard about magic anime is a particular, ‘irregular’ high schooler who, for whatever reason, seems to woo any other girl on the campus then my friend you've yet to see a lot! But don't fret for I'm here to help you exactly with that, throwing a title that would make the magic happen for any viewer out there. With the name sounding as misleading as it gets, Tokyo Ravens is one hell of a thing if I could say so myself. With the show going as far as to completely change the history to bring us a World War II no one could ever foresee, the guys at the studio aren't slacking off one bit. But not a single soul knows what the future holds for any of us, with the world and the entire universe as unpredictable as it can get, seeing today's poison being called tomorrow's panacea wouldn't seem to surprise most of us in all its honesty. With a band of characters utilizing all that magic has up its sleeve. At the same time, reality makes these turns that give the spirals a run for their money. Let’s have a look at just what makes Tokyo Ravens a title that still shines bright when compared to the newbies we have in this day and age while being a name that's as underrated as it gets, especially considering magic being its most significant ally and everything. Picking up the pace without wasting any time at all Let's face it; banger first episodes are a must when it comes to the modern anime titles out there. But when you've got Onmyoudou magic kicking things off as the show makes its debut, things are about to get super interesting now, aren't they? With Japan using their trump card to gain the edge when it comes to the war, we can't help but want to know that the victory's sure in sight, the light at the opposite side of the tunnel bringing everyone that sigh of relief. But as they say, there's always this dude who's there to mess everything up for the entire world in a heartbeat. Yakou Tsuchimikado in this story is all armed and ready to grab that title for himself, hogging away all the notoriety that it comes packed with, the 'Great Spiritual Disaster' being the nail in the coffin that won't come out even when waited on, for an eternity. From a different world war to the Onmyou Agency of today working leaps and bounds to prevent such a madman to run on the loose once again to a future that looks nothing but the most ‘happily ever after’ setting anime has ever shown us, life is for sure a bed of roses as we all might suspect. But do the good times last forever? Especially in an anime with an opening packing that much heat? A duo that makes rooting for the couple the easiest thing in the universe Perfect synergy, totally in sync while sharing a bond that's thicker than blood, water, or any liquid one can find in the galaxy out there is what makes some anime titles be the talk of the town in a couple of episodes at most. Tokyo Ravens is undoubtedly aware of that, and with it not holding back at all in the ‘character department,’ faces about to hit you are sure to make an everlasting impact no matter what. With Bakatora and Natsume bringing their quirky personalities to the table, the rest of these names wouldn't get that much time to bask in the spotlight they've craved for, right? Life’s already doing Harutora dirty, lacking any magic to boot; the seemingly useless protagonist is back in the game, my friends! Throughout the anime, seeing the two develop a relationship that makes us envy them to pieces. At the same time, happiness and emotion overtake our entire selves a million times in a single episode. The latter half of the series is full of secrets and mysteries that shed more light on what these names are all about. It's just beautiful progressing with them from such humble beginnings to the point where they end up, even fate and time blessed them with a twist that not many characters have under their belt. Plus, what makes it even sweeter is how that's not all that the show has to offer. Hokuto, Hishamaru, Jin, and many others, the show doesn't hold back any punches and delivers a roster that makes choosing favorites the hardest thing in the entire universe. A genre blend that delivers everything in its entirety, all at the same time At this point, one could visualize the anime being similar to that magical high school setting that, for some reason, failed to pop off last year. Okay, I need to tone it down a little. But trust me, you're in for a surprise if you think that's all that the show has to offer. With action, comedy, and fantasy all in the mix, getting a complete title doing everything ultimately wouldn't be a pipe dream at all, folks! Plus, with that sprinkle of romance here and there to spice things up, injecting us with adrenaline while making our hearts melt in the aftermath wouldn't be a feat that would take an eternity when Tokyo Ravens is taken into consideration. The show has a lot up its sleeve and keeps hitting you with the best that genre has to offer, over and over again, as you get to know more about the plot, the setting, and the entire universe down the road. In case you can't pick up a show unless lightning-fast combos make those fierce fights play out on the screen or romance is a must since you want a show to shake you inside out, you wondering what just happened the very last moment, Tokyo Ravens has got you covered! Plus, the music is so on point at times that it's actually scary with opening and ending songs that would burn into your memory for an eternity to come. Magic making things happen. The Verdict: As a whole, Tokyo Ravens is a show that delivers what most people expect from a magic setting, mysteries that answer those over-the-top flow that the title follows in its entirety. The way the show incorporates such a unique, out-of-the-box, ‘assassination classroom’ level idea into the fantasy setting we love to pieces is just incredible and gives us a taste of how innovative people in the anime universe are. The thing that hurts me the most about a title like this is how underrated it is. Like seriously? How can you all sleep on a show that’s so different? You need to see for yourself what the show has to offer and let it occupy one of those top spots you have in your Myanimelist. The show is a beautiful work of art, and as we approach the end, the things add up, the dots connect in such a mesmerizing manner that it’s all fulfilling and satisfying to the fullest. See for yourself as you let the magic take over! In case you haven’t already, pick up the show ASAP since it’s a must-watch for any anime fan out there, and in case you have already, tell the newbies how they have to get this show running on their systems cause it’s just a little too good to miss!
