City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes

We've all seen cheesy private eyes, throwback cartoons with hairstyles from the 1980s, and classic movies from that time. Even real-life characters, such as Michael Knight, enjoyed widespread acclaim. It's possible that at some point or another, each of us has thought about becoming one of those interesting and charming people. On the other hand, perhaps not. This is one of those great shows with a nostalgic vibe, complete with comedy and action from the past.

Ryo Saeba is the best "City Hunter" because he can shoot better than anyone else and has an unhealthy crush on the opposite sex. Alongside his colleague Kaori, he contributes to the investigation of various cases.

Ai Shindo, a model, was attacked, and she recruited him to be her bodyguard. Shinji Mikuni, the president of an IT company that hired Ai for an advertising campaign, turns out to be an old friend of Kaori's, and the two become involved. This is something that doesn't come around very often because it's a remake of an anime from the 1980s. The television series City Hunter, which aired in the twentieth century, was a lot of fun to watch and was in a league of its own. People have commented that the amusing graphics and animation they use transport them to the 1980s and give them a feeling of nostalgia.

Moving on, there is never a dull moment during the fight scenes, and it is especially fun to see how well Ryou uses his marksmanship. While some of them appeared surreal in comparison to those from the 1980s, you might enjoy them nonetheless, and bringing back the nostalgic songs and themes from the 1980s that characterize this entire anime series is one of the nicest things that can happen in a current anime! It was a thrill to nearly destroy my sound system by pushing it to level 11 every time the background music began. The finest part is that it was so beautifully integrated with the action sequences.

For those who miss a little eighties nostalgia, Shinjuku Private Eyes unfolds almost word for word like a greatest hits album. There are a number of songs used as inserts in the first City Hunter TV series, including the original anime OP theme song, "Get Wild," by TM Network. In addition, the closing credits honor all of the previous City Hunter anime.

To summarize, if you are a fan of the City Hunter series, I believe you will love and like this movie as Sunrise intended by integrating all of the key factors that made City Hunter a sensation in the 1980s! This series is my recommendation if you like the style of an American animated video. If you enjoy the shounen, or "hero" style, and the traditional means of wielding power, this is the game for you.

There isn't much romance in the program, and there aren't any Ecchi sequences to whet your appetite. But there was a lot of action in this presentation, including a big battle and gun contact near the end. They have a happy ending and live happily ever after. So yeah, if this catches your interest, give this one a spin. You likely won’t be disappointed!
